Description:

We often spend a lot of time tending flowers in our gardens but some of us do not readily think of bringing a little of the bounty inside to admire. Is it that we are reluctant to take from nature? Yet we are often doing the plant a favor by promoting new growth when we harvest blooms. Or, do we feel that our skills as gardeners do not extend to arranging our blooms for an inside display. Michelle Roth, a Master Gardener and speaker, will attempt to dispel these concerns in her talk entitled “Arranging Flowers from Your Garden” on Tuesday, July 10th. This talk is sponsored by the Transylvania County Extension Master Gardeners and is part of the monthly program of talks and demonstrations that will interest Master Gardeners, amateur gardeners, and the public at large.
In her talk, Michelle will focus on simple flower arrangements using home garden flowers. She will talk about growing tips as well as the care and handling of cut flower and the basics of floral design. Understanding some basic guidelines of flower color, shape and size can help us create a beautiful display that will grace your home. Giving you the satisfaction that it was your own work both outside and in that created this display.
Michelle Roth took some horticulture classes from Louisiana State University and was a Master Gardener in Louisiana and now in North Carolina. She had a small cut flower business for the local farmers market in Louisiana which required that she get a floral license. But most of all she loves having fresh flowers in her home and would like to share her expertize with others.
The talk is sponsored by the Transylvania County Extension Master Gardeners and will be on Tuesday July 10th from 10 to about 11.00 am and will be held in the Conference Room at the Community Services Building, 106 E. Morgan St, Brevard. The public are most welcome and there is no charge. This is a great opportunity to hear a local expert speak and will be of interest to new and experienced gardeners. Refreshments will be served starting at 9.30 am and this gives you an opportunity to meet with other Master
