On December 2, 2024, the Extension Master Gardener℠ volunteers of Transylvania County gathered for their annual holiday party and to acknowledge and celebrate the Class of 2024 graduates! From left to right they are: Joan VanOrman, Janet Koconis, Jane Cabrera, Paco Candal, Becky Sankey, Beverly Hughey, Judy Merrifield, Dori Miller, Extension Agent Bart Renner (not shown – June Getzinger).

These gardens are maintained by the 65+ local Master Gardeners and are open to the public! Trained by North Carolina State University faculty and staff, EMGVs provide research-based information about gardening and environmental stewardship to individuals and communities across the state. EMGVs engage the community through education and outreach on a wide variety of subjects and through a broad spectrum of projects, all designed to maximize their impact.”
