Cut Flower Gardening – a talk by Katie King
For many of us gardens evoke images of brightly colored flowers in sweeping masses. A lot of us put in a lot of effort to plan and grow a flower garden. But sometimes we can be reluctant to cut our well-cared-for plants and bring flowers inside to enjoy. Katie King of Barry Farms will present a talk called “Cut Flower Gardening” that will give us some ideas on how to tend and produce a cut flower garden. The talk is sponsored by the Transylvania County Extension Master Gardeners and is part of the monthly program of talks and demonstrations that will interest Master Gardeners, amateur gardeners, and the public at large.
Katie will discuss what types of flowers do well as cut flowers, how to grow them, and when they should be cut. Ideas on how flowers should be combined and arranged will be shared whether the flowers are for your kitchen table or for a more formal event
The talk is sponsored by the Extension Master Gardener℠ Volunteers of Transylvania County and will be on Tuesday, June 13th, from 10 to 11.00 a.m. and will be held in the Community Services Building Conference Room at 106 E.
