It’s Strawberry Season!

Local strawberries are in season now and there are so many delicious ways you can prepare them. You can make jams, jellies, cakes, smoothies, pies, and cobblers, or enjoy them whole for a healthy snack. Try fresh strawberries on cereal, in yogurt, or as a sweet addition to salads. You can make sweet and delicious strawberries in syrup for shortcakes, ice cream, or pancakes by macerating the berries in a little bit of sugar.

If you visit a pick-your-own patch, select firm, shiny, bright red berries. Avoid strawberries that are soft or mushy. Be sure you leave the caps attached until you are ready to process or eat them.
