Regional Seminars for Commercial Growers

Please join N.C. Cooperative Extension, ASAP,  and EmPOWERing Mountain Food Systems for a Series of Regional Seminars on High Tunnels

These workshops are aimed at training growers considering the production of crops in a High Tunnel for direct market outlets (tailgate markets, farm stands, CSA, etc.). Craig Mauney, Extension Area Specialized Agent, Lisa Gonzalez, Clay County Extension Director, and Mary Jac Brennan, Heartplace Farm Consulting will lead the group of Specialists, Agents, and Farmers from various locations to provide 3 seminars.

Specific topics include equipment & infrastructure, enterprise budgets, soil management, crop planning, seeding and transplanting, best crops and cover crops for high tunnels, pest management, food safety, and marketing. The workshop includes lectures, question and answer periods as well as a farm focus case study.
