Beginner Sewing Class

October 14th - November 4th

Weekly four session class to learn the basics of machine sewing from skilled volunteers.

Time: 3:30 - 5:00 PM

Ages: 10-18 (must be a registered 4-H member)

Location: Transylvania County Cooperative Extension Office: 106 E Morgan St. Brevard

Cost: $10 per participant payable by cash or check

Jr. Equine Science Class

October 19th - November 9th

This four-session class is designed for youth ages 8–12 who currently work with horses or are interested in horses as a hobby or future career.

Participants will build a strong foundation in equine care while exploring essential topics including horse terminology, health and disease, basic veterinary care, and nutrition. Through hands-on learning and engaging activities, youth will develop the knowledge and confidence they need to properly care for horses and communicate using the tools, terms, and practices of the equine industry.

Time: 4:00 - 5:30 PM

Ages: 8-12 (must be a registered 4-H member or have parent/guardian present)

Sr. Equine Science Class

October 19th - November 9th

This four-session class is designed for youth ages 13-18 who want to strengthen their horsemanship skills and gain an edge in the equine industry whether they own a horse, compete, or are considering a future career with horses.

Participants will learn equine management, including veterinary care and emergency response, selecting the right horse to purchase, and developing appropriate feeding and care programs for horses at any performance level. Through hands-on learning and real-world mock scenarios, youth will develop the skills and confidence needed to make informed decisions about horse health, management, and performance.

Time: 6:00 - 7:30 PM

Ages: 13-18 (must be a registered 4-H member or have parent/guardian present)

Unmounted Horse Clinic

October 24th

Buncombe, Henderson and Transylvania Counties are excited to announce a fun opportunity for horse lovers this fall - the 4-H Unmounted Horse Clinic! Whether you are a horseless horseman, a weekend rider, or an aspiring equine professional this clinic is for you! Join us for a day of hands-on fun and learn more about different unmounted equine contests in 4-H.

The 4-H Unmounted Horse Clinic will introduce youth to three exciting 4-H horse educational competitions: Horse Judging, Horse Bowl, and Hippology. Each competition offers a different way for 4-H members to expand their knowledge of horses while developing valuable skills in the equine industry. Whether a youth owns a horse, is just beginning to learn about horses, or wants to compete on a 4-H educational team, the goal of this clinic is to support 4-H Horse Clubs, horse projects, riding and showing experiences, record books, presentations, and future competitions.

This clinic is designed for beginners and youth DO NOT have to own a horse to participate!

Crochet Group

November 17th

This new group is for all young crocheters ages 10-18 from beginners to advanced. Participants will come together monthly to crochet, share tips, and socialize over a shared interest. Group will meet on the third Thursday of each month.

Family Holiday Crafts

December 8th & 9th

Join us for an afternoon of family fun as you make a beautiful holiday swag out of natural materials. Snacks and cider will be provided. All registrations must include at least one child and one adult. This is a drop-in style program, attend anytime between 3:30-5:30pm.
