We can spend a lot of time in our garden tilling, planting, weeding and watering, but it is good to step back and take a good look at what we have achieved. Using photography can be a great way to record our successes and our failures. It can help us focus on the future. David Simchock’s talk on Photography in the Garden will be held on Tuesday, May 12th from 10 to 11.00 am. Doors open at 9.30 am. The talk will be held in the Community Services Conference Room at 106 E. Morgan St, Brevard. All are welcome to attend this free event. The talk will help gardeners of all levels use their camera in an effective way in the garden. This program is sponsored by the Extension Master Gardener Volunteers of Transylvania County and is part of the monthly program of talks and demonstrations that will interest Master Gardeners, amateur gardeners, and the public at large. David will show how any type of camera be it a SLR or your phone can be used to photograph not just our flowers or vegetables but also insects, birds and the larger landscape. He will also cover how to process and archive our photography so that the image is cropped or color adjusted, and that the final product is stored safely. Using photography is an excellent way to share our gardens with friends and family or it can be used as artwork or in other creative endeavors. Perhaps more importantly, it can be an invaluable archive when planning our garden for next year. David Simchock is a full-time professional photographer with over 20 years’ experience in the business.
