If you open the material that you received from your current plan and locate the page that outlines the changes for next year, you may be surprised.
- Is there a medication that you take that is no longer on that plan’s formulary?
- Has your premium and the deductible changed?
Did you know that there are many drug plans available in Transylvania County and Medicare Advantage plans? If the plan you currently have suits your needs, then you do not need to do anything. Perhaps, however, the one you currently use does not meet your needs.
The Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) offers unbiased information and education to Medicare beneficiaries all year long, but now is the time to ask for help to decide on next year’s plan.
Call N.C. Cooperative Extension–Transylvania County at (828) 884-3109 and ask for an appointment to talk with one of the six volunteer counselors. Don’t wait until the last day, December 7th, do it now.
